Fluidised bed gasification pilot plant
The Fluidised bed gasification pilot plant of VTT is specially designed for waste fuels and has been in full operation since 2002.
The plant includes
- Fuel feeding for RDF and biomass
- Fluidised-bed gasifier (BFB or CFB operation mode)
- Gas cooling and filtering systems
- 1 MW boiler with flue gas scrubbing
Examples of R&D activities
- Development of gasification and gas cleaning processes for waste fuels in 2002 - 2004, test runs with demolition wood, MSW-based fuels and wood residues
- Development and testing of integrated oxidizer for filter ash in 2003 - 2005

- Gasification temperature: 600 - 1000 degrees Celcius
- Fuel capacity: 0.5 - 1 MW
- Bag filter with sorbent injection 200 - 500 degrees Celicus
- Slip stream catalyst testing unit
