PEFG - pressurised entrained- low gasification simulator

ECN's pressurized entrained flow gasification simulator is a pressurized entrained flow reactor with an integrated, premixed and staged flat-flame gas burner.  It has been designed to mimic actual entrained-flow gasification conditions more accurately than more conventional drop tube or entrained flow reactors in terms of gas conditions, particle heating rates and maximum temperature levels.

The facility has been used to test a range of coals and biomass feedstocks under dry-feed oxygen-blown entrained bed gasification conditions.

Technical information

  • Pressure: up to 2.0 MPa
  • Flame temperature: up to 3000 K
  • Oven temperature: up to 1900 K
  • Tube Diameter: 0.04 m
  • Tube length: 2.25 m
